Dear Family,
Today is Friday, May 17, 2024. It is Day 20 and Day 6 of week 3 in our Count to Pentecost.
There are some verses in the Bible regarding Moses that can give us some very special insights about how God deals with leaders He has specifically chosen and equipped for the work He has given them to do. We find in the book of Exodus that God‛s presence was with the children of Israel in the cloud by day and in the pillar of fire by night.
Exodus 13:20-22 (20) And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness. (21) And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: (22) He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
However, it is clear from the actions, grumbling, and complaining of the people that nearness of the true, powerful, generous, protective God did seem to affect the Israelites as it did Moses.
Moses was submitted and faithful to God; the Israelites were not. There are at least three verses that tell us Moses was faithful in all God gave him to do.
Numbers 12:7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all Mine house.
Hebrews 3:2 Who was faithful to Him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
Hebrews 3:5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
While we think on this aspect of faithfulness in Moses, let us remember that he ate the same food Israel ate, had just as much water as they had, never left the desert for a vacation, and never received a financial bonus for his putting up with Israel‛s stubbornness and complaining.
The closeness God granted to Moses was very special. God talked to him face to face, like a man speaks to his friend. Apparently, Moses never took this special interaction for granted.
Exodus 33:11(A) And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend.
Brethren, Jesus calls us His friends. He laid down His life for us, and offers us a special closeness. At this time it is not the same closeness as He granted Moses, but it is a VERY special closeness granted to those of His Body, who are the called and the chosen. Let us be sure that God finds us faithful in what He has given us to do.
Revelation 17:14(B) for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with Him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
